Although he had no formal art training, he took night courses and made frequent trips to museums and galleries. He became a prominent western painter, print maker and draftsman. He focused mainly on the prairie landscape. Four of his paintings were presented by Premier T.C. Douglas to Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip on behalf of the Province of Saskatchewan. He holds an honorary degree from the University of Saskatchewan and his works are included in major galleries and private collections across Canada.
