Paul Panton was born in Melita, obtained his teacher’s certificate from University of Brandon and eventually moved to Winnipeg to make a living working full time as an artist. All the write ups read to research this piece remark on the fact that Panton was openly gay, at a time i history when this would have been difficult. His art was influenced by his longtime friend and mentor, Joe Plaskett, as well as Steve Repa. Panton explored may art mediums including casein, oils, watercolour and pastel. He started exhibiting in the mid-sixties. His works can be found in collections across Canada.
